Tennis is a sport that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities. It is a great way to stay fit and active and can be played either competitively or for fun. The game of tennis originated in France in the 12th century and was then known as jeu de paume (‘game of the palm’).

It quickly became popular among the nobility, and soon spread to other parts of Europe. In the late 19th century, a new version of the game was created by Major Walter Clopton Wingfield, which we now know as lawn tennis. This version became very popular in Britain, and from there it spread around the world.

Tennis is played between two players (singles) or two teams of two players (doubles). The aim of the game is to hit the ball over the net into your opponent’s court and to stop them from doing the same. Players must use a racket to hit the ball, and can only bounce it once before it must be returned.

There are a few different tournaments that are held throughout the year for tennis players of all levels. The four Grand Slam tournaments are considered to be the most prestigious and are played on different surfaces (grass, clay, hardcourt) in Australia, France, England, and America respectively. In Hong Kong, there are also several smaller tournaments that take place throughout the year.

If you are interested in playing tennis, there are a number of places you can go to in Hong Kong. There are public courts located in most parks, and many housing estates also have their own courts.
